courtrooms, camping and cupcakes

I spent the better part of last week stuck in a room the size of my closet at home, no windows, no paintings, no fake trees or plants...just four walls and a handful of chairs. It was pure torture. Okay, so it wasn't as torturous as I'm sure getting your finger nails yanked off with pliers would be...but it was close, haha.
I lost respect for mankind, really I did. It was sad. No, not sad because it was a murder trial and some innocent person was taken from the earth...no it was sad because it was a civil law suit. A lady was filing a law suit against the city of columbia for a small...what I would call fender bender....what did the lady want?? over 1 million dollars. **sigh** and we wonder why our world is crashing down around us. Greed. Selfishness. Stupidity. Laziness. The trial lasted FOUR days!!! Those are four days that I will never get back. What a waste. The scary part? Some jurors wanted to award her the money she wanted. The part that was the saddest....her attorney kept going on and on about how she was a "good christian woman"...this made me the saddest.
Okay...so thats enough with the depressing worldiscomingtoanend talk, haha.

We spent memorial day camping!!! I NEEDED to camp after the week I had!! We spent our days under the open sky and our nights under the twinkling stars. The smell of a camp smoke is one of my favorite smells. I ate one toooo many smore's and roasted hotdogs :) I spent time walking in the creek, turning over rocks and digging in the mud. I fell asleep cozy under a sleeping bag, on the floor of a tent, listening to frogs croak and crickets sing. Of course we spent alot of time riding too!! I would like to think I'm getting better at my riding skills...though I still have the minor accident here and there...we all do :) I do believe I sprained my wrist on a nasty fall this time. I also took a nice little dive over the handlebars and slid belly-to-dirt down a slippery little hill. I spent alot of time cleaning mud off of myself...but it was fun. I discovered that I'm not very good at riding over wet tree limbs but in the end I was able to conquer much of the trails with limited falls. Monday came wayyy toooo quickly. We packed up and went to meet my mom and dad for dinner. Dad surprised sevy and myself with a cool ramp to load and unload our bikes with...handmade!! very cool. He also got us new riding shirts...we'll be riding in style now, hehe. My poor bike suffered a flat rear tire and needed a few minor adjustments, so its currently visiting the bike doctor this week. We had ALOT of fun and I can't WAIT to do it again!!! Camping is definitely in my blood and something I enjoy doing very much!!

This week will be spent making cupcakes...again :) Starting tonight I will be working on decorations for 40 little cupcakes. I'll try and take pictures as I go. These are for my cousin and her baby shower on Saturday. I have many ideas, but limited time...so hopefully I'll get most of my creations done and worthy of presenting baby Henry with, hehe.

Yipee for a four day work week!!!!! Though now...its only three :)

Can't wait to see what you make for Saturday! Are you packing them up as favors or what?

Nope, not packing them up as favors...I don't know how I would manage that...my icing is not the kind that gets crusty enough to place into bags and I don't want to even attempt to find 40 single cupcake boxes, lol. I'm going to stack them into a tier shape...I hope that they turn out cute...I have a bad habit of biting off more than I can chew, lol...but we all know that ;) I start working on something and my creativity starts to flow...and then I get in over my head, yikes!! We'll see how it goes :)

Ok, sounds cool! I asked because your mom said something about you doing it maybe, you have bags you put them in? I don't know, I was just curious! I know they'll be great either way!

mom said something about putting cupcakes in bags, i don't know...she said she has seen it done and it didnt mess the cupcakes up...but I'm not brave enough to try it, lol, I cant just see the mess I would end up with. I hope they turn out cute. I stayed up late last night working on some of the decorations.

Yeah, I wouldn't try it either, I would be mad if I spent all that time making them and they messed up! Can't wait!

Linds,
I have two Silver tiered stands. Not the Cupcake stands. They are sort of saucer like plates that are the tiers. Does that make any sense at all? Do you need them? I borrowed them from Mrs. Dobbin's your old teacher. Can't wait to eat those cupcakes.

uhm, I don't think I need them AJ, but you could bring them just in case...I got sort of, uhm, creative and made my own form of cupcake stand...eh' we'll see how it goes. If it looks like poo then I may need to borrow those stands!

PS. if the cupcakes turn out super super cute, then I want you ALL to let me make cupcakes for your kids birthdays...if they don't, we bought them at walmart, HAHAHA.

They will be cute. Don't worry!

Your mom probably got the idea from my Durham shower.

Love, the Mom-to-be
